The mission of the Walton Center is to advance the application of geospatial technology (remote sensing, geographic information systems [GIS], and global positioning systems [GPS]) and spatial analysis/modeling to environmental, agricultural, and natural resource sciences and management. The center studies such topics as urban growth and land-use change, crop and forest health monitoring, precision agriculture amd integrated pest management, wildlife and fisheries habitat mapping, and watershed and coastal zone management.
