Qualify a Job/Internship You Found for Credit

Did you already find an internship or job on your own?
Will it provide you with relevant work experience related to your career goals or major?
Will you be able to work 16 hours a week for at least 10 weeks?
Do you want to earn Experience-based Education credits?

If you said "YES" to the above questions, then follow these steps to qualify the internship or job for Cooperative Education credits.

  1. Contact the Cooperative Education Program staff to make sure you are eligible to participate in our program. Schedule an appointment to watch the Cooperative Education Information Video (if you have not attended an Information Seminar). The video may be viewed at our office, Room 211, in Martin Hall or you can watch it at the Learning Center in Loree Hall (ask at the information desk).
  2. Check with our office to make sure that we are not already partnering with your employer. If not, then pick up and complete a copy of the Cooperative Education Job Information Form (18k PDF).
  3. When you hand in the completed Cooperative Education Job Information Form, be sure to read, sign and submit the following two forms: the Statement on Ethical Conduct for Cooperative Education Students (66k PDF) and the Cooperative Education Consent Agreement.
  4. Complete your demographic information on our database.
  5. Call the Co-op Education office 732-932-3000 and make an appointment with the appropriate Co-op counselor who handles your major. The counselor will review the prospective job, contact your employer/supervisor and make sure that it matches our requirements.
  6. Register for the Co-op Education credits (3 or 6), choose a faculty sponsor and complete the related academic assignments. NOTE: As with all Summer and Winter classes, you will need to pay for the cooperative education credits, if you register during the Summer or Winter sessions.
