Critical Thinking
Growing from an introduction in the Summer Institute Seminar in Academic Skills, this 10-week academic year seminar provides students practice in critical thinking. Students investigate, evaluate, and challenge the perspectives of others while simultaneously reflecting and elaborating upon their own thoughts.
Students keep a journal to reflect on assigned readings, and
on their application of critical thinking concepts to current
science and math course work. Students are evaluated on weekly
journal keeping, classroom participation, quizzes, midterm
and final exams, and class attendance.
