What Is Academic Progress for Financial Aid?

Satisfactory Academic Progress is a requirement for all students receiving federal, state, or university assistance while enrolled at Rutgers. Financial aid recipients must meet both qualitative and quantitative standards to remain eligible for aid. In addition, the student must complete the program within the maximum time frame.

If you have received an email from the Office of Financial Aid that you are not in compliance with the Standards of Academic Progress for Financial Aid and cannot receive aid this upcoming academic year, please follow the steps below:

1. Complete the Appeal for Financial Aid (SAP) form below and email it to the Office of Academic Programs at sap@sebs.rutgers.edu.
2. Your appeal will be reviewed to determine if you are eligible for a plan.
3. You will receive an email regarding your next steps once your plan is reviewed by the SEBS Office of Academic Programs.
4. If you are eligible for a plan, one will be created, and you will be emailed to schedule an appointment with a dean in the SEBS Office of Academic Programs. You will meet with the dean to review and submit your plan.
5. Do not schedule an appointment until you have received the email that your plan is ready and you can schedule an appointment.

Summer Plans

Forms for a plan starting in Summer must be submitted to the SEBS Office of Academic Programs via the sap@sebs.rutgers.edu email above by July 1 to be processed and submitted to the Office of Financial Aid by July 15.

Fall Plans

Forms for a plan starting in Fall must be submitted to the SEBS Office of Academic Programs via the sap@sebs.rutgers.edu email by October 15 to be processed and submitted to the Office of Financial Aid by November 1.

Spring Plans

Forms for a plan starting in Spring must be submitted to the SEBS Office of Academic Programs via the sap@sebs.rutgers.edu email by March 15 to be processed and submitted to the Office of Financial Aid by April 1.
