Grade Appeals

Students with concerns about their final grades or grading issues in a School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (SEBS--School 11) course are encouraged to discuss those grades thoroughly with their instructor to seek understanding or resolution. If they feel that they have not received adequate review or information from the instructor, they are directed to the department chair and/or undergraduate program director of the department that offers the course for their review and investigation. The student is encouraged to submit a detailed email with information about the situation as well as copies of any relevant email correspondence or other documentation about the concern. The department chair/undergraduate program director will discuss the situation with the instructor and respond to the students in writing to resolve the situation.

If the situation remains unresolved following department chair review, the student should submit written information about the issue directly to the Dean of Academic Programs. The dean will discuss the situation with the instructor and department chair/undergraduate program director and respond in writing to the student. The dean’s determination is final.
