Honors Opportunities

The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences Honors Program admits select high school seniors based on their academic record and test scores. The academic program consists of Honors courses, seminars, and research opportunities throughout the four years, typically culminating in a George H. Cook Scholars project in the senior year.

The George H. Cook Scholars Program is a senior honors thesis program completed under the direction of a faculty advisor. Students apply to the Program in the second semester of their junior year and complete their projects, including a public defense of the thesis, during the second semester of their senior year. Upon thesis completion and acceptance, the student graduates with honors as a George H. Cook Scholar.

The Rutgers Honors College offers invitations to a select group of top students admitted to SEBS from high school each year. It is a residential college comprised of students from all Rutgers–New Brunswick schools. First-year students in the Honors College live in the Honors College residence on the College Avenue campus. The academic program includes disciplinary and interdisciplinary honors seminars, programmatic and service activities, and a culminating academic experience through senior capstone work.

The Clearing Corporation Charitable Foundation Agribusiness Scholars program provides selected students at SEBS with the applied knowledge, leadership qualities, analytical skills, and experiences required for successful careers in the domestic and global agribusiness sector. By integrating coursework, experiential learning, and engagement with agribusiness leaders, students accepted into the program will develop in-depth understanding of the issues driving agricultural markets and the performance of the agribusiness sector.
