Portals to Academic Success (PASS) (11:015:113)
The PASS course engages students in learning about the processes by which individuals learn in class and, ultimately, achieve academic success. The course is required for first-year students on academic warning or probation and focuses on topics to facilitate academic success, such as time management, developing successful study habits, long-term goal planning, and use of university-wide resources. This is a one-credit graded course (A, B+, B, C+, C, F), taught in small discussion/seminar format. Students are graded on assignments and class participation.
Learning Goals
- To implement academic success practices, including appropriate class attendance and note-taking skills.
- To understand the individual's learning style and identify and develop appropriate learning strategies.
- To develop and refine holistic wellness practices, including time management, organizational skills, and stress management strategies.
- To develop an individualized 4-year academic plan towards graduation and long-term academic goals.
- To understand SEBS Academic Standing policies and academic standards.
