USDA-NIFA Capacity Funding

As a land-grant institution with a history over 150 years long, the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) at Rutgers has a specific mission to develop and disseminate research that “enhances the vitality, health, sustainability and overall quality of life in New Jersey by developing and delivering practical, effective solutions to current and future challenges to agriculture; fisheries; food; natural resources; environments; public health; and economic, community, and youth development.”

NJAES receives Federal and State funds to accomplish these objectives. Faculty on an NJAES line must be a Project Director or co-PD on a USDA–NIFA approved Capacity project. The different types of projects, tied to various Federal funding streams are Regular Hatch, Hatch-Multistate, McIntire-Stennis, and Animal Health.

Our primary function is to assist our NJAES researchers with establishing, maintaining and reporting on their USDA Capacity Funded projects.
