Abstract:
This is EAB PhD student Saad Farooq's research proposal. Synopsis: The Integrated Stress Response (ISR) and autophagy are two pathways that regulate proteostasis and promote cellular adaptation to stress. Previous in-vitro studies have reported that ISR proteins, ATF4 and CHOP, are necessary for autophagy during amino acid deprivation and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, however, this relationship has not been confirmed in-vivo. This work contributes to addressing this research gap via an in-vivo investigation of ATF4 and CHOP’s role in regulating hepatic autophagy under the context of different cellular stressors.
